East Indians in Guyana perform the classical kathak dance, part of this performance involved stomping of the bare feet. Guyana also celebrates thirteen national holidays, some of them however, only come from one culture (such as the Hindu festival lights Deepwali). Another tradition is the British tradition of exchanging gifts on Boxing Day, which is celebrated the day after Christmas. A lot of the times all of Guyana joins in on these celebrations.
Since there are so many different cultures present in Guyana, all different people brought their different traditions and celebrations. While certain holidays are only celebrated by certain groups of people, the one holiday that all Guyanese people celebrated is Mashramani.
This celebration is very important to the Guyanese people, and it is the biggest celebration and tradition that takes place, however the different ethic groups that are present here all enjoy their own traditions and celebration that they brought over many years ago.
